Care logistics

Plan lab samples around pickup and handoff

8 min read

Sample rounds combine pickup windows, processing times and handoff deadlines. Model those dependencies explicitly and test urgent pickups.

Recognise visit, delivery, trip pair and pickup

Home care centres on worker-client matching and service duration. Meals often depart together with delivery windows. Accessible transport links outbound and return journeys to vehicle and assistance. Lab samples must arrive before handoff or processing. These dependencies determine required data, checks and optimisation goals.

Use a shared foundation

All patterns need locations, time windows, duration, resources, status and exceptions. Build that core once and add domain-specific relationships. Teams can share maps, communication and audit principles without treating a meal stop as if it were a care visit.

Test each pattern's critical path

Simulate an unavailable skill for care, late departure for meals, an overrun appointment for transport and an urgent pickup for labs. Check the new route as well as communication, handoff and decision authority. A generic demo without these exceptions proves little about daily usability.
